Covid- 19 Procedures

The following procedures will be followed at the practice to ensure the safety of my clients.

1.     Only individual assessments will be conducted at the practice.

2.     Feedback of assessments, study methods or remedial therapy will be conducted via Zoom sessions (Telemedicine/ Telehealth).

3.     Only one battery of tests/ assessment will be conducted per day as to allow for proper sanitisation of the practice.

4.     Clients visiting the practice must adhere to the following:

·       Wearing of facemasks

·       Social distancing

·       Measurement of temperature

·       Sanitising of hands

·       Signing of a Covid- 19 declaration form.

5.     Parents can accompany their children to the practice but will be asked to leave during the assessment. A time will be provided when the parent will be able to pick up his/her child.

6.     All children must bring their own refreshments, an HB/ B2 pencil and eraser.

7.     If a child is sick, please inform the practice immediately so that the assessment can be rescheduled. No sick children/adults will be allowed on the premises. I reserve the right of admission.

Reading: How to teach my grade 1 child to read

With Covid -19 upsetting our lives and the school calendar constantly changing, many parents were either forced to or have opted to home school their kids.  Today I will share some advice on how to teach a child to read. Please do remember that every child is unique. What works very well for one child might not work as well for another. That might mean that you will have to try different methods. Be patient and keep on practising. Reading material Make sure you choose age appropriate books for your child to read. It can be very disheartening for a child if the book he/she has to read is to difficult. Rather begin with a book that is easy for your child to master. It will build his/her confidence.
